The first site that is being analyzed is www.freelancewriting.com. The site has many useful features for up and coming writers. Information is broken down into several different categories; What’s New, Discussion Forums, Freelance Writing Jobs, Reading Room, Newsroom, Writing Contests, and Writing Events. Each section on the site gives basic instructions on how to use them, which is very helpful for first time users. Freelance writing website also offers a quick features section with a diverse selection of writing tools. One the more useful tools in the quick features section is freelance recruiters, which gives writers a chance to show some of their work to different publishers and companies. Free electronic books are very useful to people that what to write but do not know certain formats and ways to write. The website also gives a lot of links to writing competitions and contest. The contests are a great way for a person to receive feedback on the writings they are unsure of. The site also has useful links to programs that can help with writing grammar and styles. Screenwriting software can also be purchased from the site. A very valuable tool located on the site is the reading room, a place where writers can read what some of their peers have written to get a better concept of the level of writing that is required for some publications. This is very useful website one of the better ones on the internet. If a person is a freelance writer or are just interested in getting into freelance writing I would highly recommend this site as a starter tool.

The website consist of discussions and forums for every type of writer, from the artistic type all the way to the most technical. There are many useful links on the site some include; a bookstore, marketplace, a place for writers to start and writing basics. The best part of the site is all the information sections are broken down to the most useful in section the frequently asked questions. One of the most useful parts of the site is the recommended reading list of certain books with very detail reviews of the books to ensure that a person would like to read the book. With guidelines for writing online where a writer can find links for getting paid for their writings. There are several links to book clubs on the site for people that will like to just read where other writers are currently at their craft. Misc. I will use this essay to shed some light on a breed of dogs that is being singled out. American pit bull terriers are thrust into the media with only bad stories. The majority of people dislike this dog not from any personal experience. People pass judgment from what they have heard or what they have read about. People hear the name pit bull and cringe. I personally laugh when I come across people like that because they just don’t know the truth about the dogs. The media will only report part of the story. The media will not tell you that with many dogs if you abuse them they will turn on you. Not turn on you just because it’s a pit bull. The media will tell you oh a pit bull mauled someone today. But the media just conveniently left the part out that the person who was mauled provoked the dog in some way. Oh then there are the stories about pit bulls mauling children. Well hello I wouldn’t leave my child around any breed of dog unsupervised that’s just common sense. Ignorant owners are the biggest issue when it comes to pit bulls. You have jerks that want to fight their dogs or teach them to be mean. This in return just gives fuel to the fire on this subject. When in fact this breed of dogs is in fact very loyal and caring to their families. It’s not made visible to the public eye, but these dogs are actually gentle and crave attention. The dogs have been used in movies for their intelligence. These dogs are even being sought by law enforcement for the purpose of detection for explosives believe it or not. Things of this nature are not made public you actually have to go search for good news on these dogs. The reason behind this is because tragedy, and horror stories sell. Point blank good news is something people don’t want to hear about pit bulls. Only the gore sells, and appeals to readers. I have been around all different breeds of dogs and they are all the same. Of course if you neglect an animal it’s not going to be the best pet. I mean come on let’s face it if you were beaten and starved you wouldn’t be happy either. Let’s say you’re a dog not even a pit bull if someone keeps provoking you of course your going to act a certain way towards anyone. Pit bull is also naturally protective of the homes they stay in and the people that live there. So let’s say some one is somewhere they are not suppose to be the dog just may have a reaction that will strike fear. But this can be said for any breed of dog. If a pit bull is raised the correct way by a good owner there is never an issue. But of course you have people like Michael Vick and hi jerk off friends who thrust this breed into the spotlight with negative media attention. Because once again only horror stories sell in the public eye. So basically what we have here is a fraction of the events that just so happens to be bad but takes the top spot as news. More reason for the media to say jus how bad of a dog they are. The truth is though how many times per year does a pit bull actually harm someone? Consider the number of pit bulls in the United States to the actual number of pit bull involved incidents a year in the U.S. The comparison is so small it leaves me wondering what is really the big deal. I have the perfect philosophy for this case. If you raise your child to be racist chances are your child will hate people not of their race right? So it’s the same thing with a pit bull if an owner raises their dog to be mean then chances are the dogs going to be mean and there will be an incident. It’s so stupid because if you look at the crime rate of people on people violence alone why doesn’t the media single out one type of person over another. It’s all politics and selling news if you ask me a bunch of bull. For a while the main focus of the media with a bad dog was directed strictly at Rottwielers and now the focus has shifted to pit bulls. It’s so bad that the state of California has made it illegal to even own a pit bull. If that were the case why wouldn’t they just ban every person in the state that has committed a violent crime? It’s just ridiculous how society works. It’s like a double-edged sword what’s good for one thing or should I say acceptable for one thing is not for another. The bigger picture is that people should be responsible for their pets. Instead of taking out all the animosity on the dogs them selves who it’s genuinely not there fault at all. The dogs suffer without warrant and it’s totally a shame. These great animals are treated like the worst thing on the planet when in fact there are far more badly things around then them. I think it’s kind of like a cop out to people like we can’t do something about this legitimate problem so we will find a mediocre one to tackle and please everyone. Like blowing a bunch of smoke in the air as camouflage. I hope by actually letting good things be known about this dog it will change some people’s minds. I have actually taken the time to search through all the bad things to find a lot of good. These dogs are the product of man and now man has turned their back on them. It’s like I would say a modern day witch-hunt. It’s a shame that just like the Salem witch trials now we view them as terribly wrong. And it’s actually shocking to us that this went on back then. And I feel if the truth isn’t known now that years from now people will feel the same way about this subject in the same way. I personally breed pit bulls and they are wonderful animals. They are loved by my entire family as part of the family, and none of us would have it any other way. These dogs are great around my own children as well as my neighbor’s children. They are truly great pets to have around. People that come to the house are afraid at first until they see for themselves first hand what the dogs are about. My pit bulls are very fun loving animals that just crave attention and love to please my family. My kids love them too like they were teddy bears. I just don’t understand why people hate something so much when in fact they know nothing of them. It’s just plain ignorance to me. It’s a fad because once they is another target to try and get people to hate people will forget all about the pit bulls it will be something else. The key to helping this breed is socialization with other dogs from an early age. As well as keeping idiot owners from doing what they choose to the dogs without consequences. The owners of pit bulls should be held criminally as well as financially responsible for there pets and I guarantee it will put and end to the major of the issues people hear about.

I chose these two websites because it gives the necessary information needed to complete a good essay. These sites talks about the different parts of an essay. The first site that I’m going to discuss is www.infoplease.com/homework/writingskills1htm. In this website some of the information mentioned are five basic tips for writing your essay, how to write and advanced essay, how to write a five paragraph essay. The five basic tips are: first choose a subject that interest you, then try to narrow the subject down t something u can write about, then come up with a statement about your topic, next write you paper and answer the question “why” at least five times in your paper, and last wrap it up by writing a brief conclusion that summarize the points that you have just made in your paper. This website is good because a lot of times when I’m writing an essay I don’t really use these steps the way I should and this site kind of broke it down into sections and explained each one to the reader.

The other site that I chose was www.2actden.com/Writ_den/tips/essay/intro.htm. This site goes into deep detail and explains what each section is and why I need each section of the essay. This site also helped me to understand the parts even more.

I analyzed two writing websites and wrote a summary of each for this journal.

http://www.angelfire.com/wi/writingprocess/

I like his site because it is very animated and that makes it a lot less boring to read. It has well design images to represent the steps in the writing process. It has some good points to mark such as the part that was written about the internet as an empowering force as far as where to find good sources of information to research for writing, but not all sites are reliable. Some are fakes so you have to use your own good judgment.

http://www.essaypunch.com/

This web site is even better because it provides questions that help to guide users step by step through writing. Students can access tips to help them when they are stuck. This web site is based on the popular writing skills program, Essay Punch. Students are guided to organize their ideas throughout the program. The complete Essay Punch program features three different ways to write an essay: through persuasion, information, and description.

I am to find and evaluate two sites that provide writing tips. Using the Internet to gather my references always proves to be beneficial. My first site that I am using is a site that focuses on many aspects of writing. Some of the different links that are present are :tips comma use, transitions, abstracts, cover letters, and resumes. This is a great site because it’s almost a one-stop shop for finding tips on how to better ones writing skills. There is a section devoted to Literature paper tips. Being in a pretty advanced English class here at ECPI, I particularly liked this section. It gave pointers on how to keep a thesis from being vague by not using words like: important, interesting, experience, situation, and such out of your thesis. It also gives advise on how to keep your readers along for the ride, and not loosing them, by using an outline. In the outline its best to arrange the points in your outline in the logical order that will be easiest for the reader to follow. Its also a good idea to support every claim you make it says with specific evidence from the text. all this is great information to know when attacking a paper. http://www.english.uiuc.edu/cws/wworkshop/writer_resources/writing_tips/literature_papers.htm
Since pretty soon I will be making a resume to send out to respectable companies it is important that I next chose a site that gave tips on resume writing. At monster.com they offer many tips on critiquing a resume. The site was very easy to navigate through, with pleasing colors that were very calming to view. Here they said that 50 percent of people lie on their resumes. Education is stated to be the most common topic people lie about. Also enhancing job titles, inventing employers, and stretching dates to cover employment gaps are a few more that are common. I can relate to some of these because I always try to stretch my dates so I don’t look like a beach bum during the summer. I have a terrible habit of always taking the summer off for some reason or another. Maybe in the future I wont have to fill in any gaps. http://monster.typepad.com/monsterblog/2005/08/lying_on_your_r.html

The first website I found was www.homepages.dsu.edu/jankej/Writing/tips.htm. This website could help you with any writing tip you are doing because it talks about all the types and it gives some advices. Dakota State University is the “user” which gives all these information. In this website is talked about how many writing tips you have, and an narrow explanation for each one and then I big explanation about how you can do it and the good way you could work on it. What I like in this website is the way that everything is explained. There is not hard words, so it is easy to understand for everybody. Everything is explained in a way that you could easy learn how to do one tip and the possibility to learn something about writing.

The second website was www2.actden.com/writ_Den/tips/essay/index.htm. This website gives the possibility to search about grammar, essays and paragraphs. Talking about grammar, the website has one link which says sentence where you can learn or read about the different kind of words (verbs, nouns, adjectives) and it guides you to create or to correct sentences. The second link is called paragraphs. This talks about the tips of paragraphs, the rules you should follow to have a good one, and some advices to do a good work. The last link is called Essays. It is explained in it the tips of essays, and writing tips, and the way you could do it to make a good paper, and also some advice. The common thing in both links is the way it is explained everything, clearly, grammatically correct and easy to understand.

The first site being analyzed is http://www.ipl.org/div/aplus/. It is an interactive site with many tips and tools that assist one with writing a research paper as well as just becoming a better writer. It is set up well because the page is easy to read, and has many helpful hints on how to navigate through the page. It provides a table of contents, as well as how to complete a research paper step by step. It also has tips on how to navigate and located reliable sources of information, and finally, this website offers you a link to find credible resources to complete the research paper. It has a link for asking questions if anything is unclear. I think this is a very helpful website and would recommend it to everybody.

The second site being analyzed is http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~jnichols/APA-Style.htm. This is a website dedicated to teaching the APA format of completing an assignment. It is very informative, but the actual site itself is boring, and lacks a fun environment for the reader to venture into. The sites appearance looks outdated, and hasn’t been updated in the last couple of years. It doesn’t have a publishing or updated date. It does offer a segment of FAQ (frequently asked questions), and a link to assist one with completing citations, a link to assist one to help avoid plagiarism, and a link to many different resources to comple the assignment.

The website www.sff.net/People/LisaRC/into2.htm gives you tips getting rid of writers block. It goes in to reasons why writers block happens. They believe having no time is one of the most overused reasons. They believe that wherever you are, you can always have a pen and paper handy and write just little bits at a time. They suggest that if writers block occurs, take three random words, then use them in different ways.

The website www.bestessaytips.com gives many tips on all forms of writing. They developed this site to help college students achieve successful writings. It goes into detail how to proof read your essay affectively.
