The research paper will give insight on the current and future state of the video game entertainment industry. I will compare the three major hardware companies the long term plans for the current generation of video gaming machines. The video game companies are gearing towards expanding the market by introducing new and exciting ways to get the medium to the mass public. The current video game industry is in a transitional phase, the market is dividing into separate groups casual gamers, hardcore gamers, and media junkies. I will look to see if all this new attention is hurting or helping the video game media industry. With prices of video games and systems rising is this hurting the market by making a hobby only for a privileged few. Although Nintendo has went a different route producing cheaper more innovating systems, the market is getting bigger but the hardcore gamers suffer. The hardcore gamers helped define and build the industry are now being neglected by the industry they helped to build. More casual games means less games for a member of a hardcore audience to enjoy. With rising prices the games the hardcore audience used to enjoy have become less accessible to them. I will show how future development of video games all depend of this current console generation. If the Nintendo Wii does end up winning this generation of the console war, it will show that better technology doesn’t always mean a better system. The outcome of Nintendo winning can also be a very bad thing cause the hardcore will be left out of the equation. If Sony or Microsoft wins the console war better technology will come about but, the price of gaming will skyrocket, making gaming an elitist hobby.
My paper will try to convince the reader that having people with sexually transmitted dieases should be public knowledge through local county, and state police departments. It's 2007 and the unexpected so always be expected. You never know what to expect from the next person. Even if you believe or think you know them. Some people that go around and have sex just to have sex knowing that they have the diease but some do it just out of spite to be cruel to others that they know and dont know, because they feel as if they have nothing to gain from the world. So they want to put others in the same position that they are in.
This research paper will be my opinion of the breakdown of the difference between hip-hop and rap music then and now. Hip-hop these days is like rock-and-roll from the 80’s. It’s a genre that has lasted and changed over the last 30 years. It couldn’t even be compared to the first days of hip-hop. It’s now more focused on dancing and getting hype in other words “partying”. Hip-hop is often confused as rap music, which is another whole genre in itself. Rap music, in my opinion, is negative in almost every aspect, except for in the use of creativity in its lyrics and beat production. Its defined as the reciting of rhymes over an instrumental or a beat. There is a grey area in which some artists are part of both genres. Some artists are very influential in terms of doing better and setting your life straight. Others continue to call women B*&^*s and ride around wearing ridiculously large diamonds around their necks in their $100,000 cars. I think it takes a lot of talent to do either. Hip-hop is believed to have started with a Jamaican DJ named Kool Herc. He began on turntables mixing songs together and “scratching” or mixing the lyrics into the beat. At house parties Herc would rap with the microphone while playing the instrumental on the turntables. While some of this music is negative much of it is also very positive. This music is a way of releasing the emotions inside you that you could only do on wax. People abuse this privilege because of what sells and what it may do to their character in their own living environment.. If only people could use their talents to persuade the children of our future to do better in school and at home. Use it to show women how much we respect and cherish them and their abilities. It’s not only men either. Women are putting themselves out there by being half naked and talking about things they wouldn’t ever want to hear from the opposite sex. Maybe it’s near impossible but its worth a try, and he world would definitely be a better place.
The research paper will look into the pros and cons of alternative fuels. With the rising price of crude oil and the decreasing supply and higher demand, an alternative source should be found. I will show how these fuels will affect the economy and the future of energy. I will also compare the environmental effects of using the different types of fuels. The U.S. Department of Energy shows how all the different types of fuels are created. Ethanol is the most widely used, and is already used in our regular gas. The EPA encourages the use and development of different sources than the current one we use today. The EPA also works with the Department of energy and Department of Transportation to create Acts to create environmental gains from vehicle. Vehicles, business, and the economy could see a financial gain from using alternative fuels. Hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, and methanol are all examples of alternative fuel which are being used today. The growing use and production can stop the U.S. relying on other countries. My independent variable is how there are other fuels out there to use, and my depending variable is how using theses fuels can help benefit what we use everyday, energy.
A lack of female involvement in game design is alienating a large portion of the female population and denying the gaming industry that income. Considering how many women spend money on entertainment, this is something the gaming industry cannot afford to continue to do. As much money as men spend on gaming, women could spend even more. It’s a smart business decision to include half the population. Men make up 88.5% of the game developers so it’s not a surprise that most games seem to appeal to men more than women. Even the women who are involved in game creating tend to be in administrative or art roles. Women are often scantily-clad and only good as healers or magic users. This last part has thankfully changed and now women characters can be warriors or other classes (a fantastic example is Fran from FFXII. She was stronger in weaponry than anything else). Women also encounter sexism while playing games. Although this is not every woman’s experience, some women find themselves the object of scorn and patronizing attitudes because they are women. Her fellow male gamers can tell a woman told, “If you play games, you must be ugly, fat and single.” While this attitude can be found in male-to-male exchanges, there is a higher frequency and an extra amount of vitriol when the insults are aimed at woman players. The term gamer is gender neutral but the people who are gamers are not. As for a question, I’m thinking “what should be done within the gaming industry to entice more women?” I know some places like Microsoft hold camps for young girls and that is an important step but what about the generations that are already in the work force? The hours are brutal and most don’t want to give up their families and lives the way this industry asks. Working thesis- The gaming industry can no longer afford to ignore the income of the women and must entice women into more designing and development roles.
My research paper is going to show the effects from the abuse children endure and how they act out later in life. Some children from a young age begin with abusing and torturing animals and they get more violent as they get older. I will go over statistics that show the percentage of children who commit violent crimes as adolescents and adults. My research will also cover if a certain type of abuse leads to different kinds of violent behavior. The most infamous serial killers and rapists were severely abused as children, would they have turned out that way if they were raised differently? I will review some of the more notorious murder cases in history involving criminals who were abused and neglected. Does the fact that a child was abused mean that he or she is going to turn into a murderer or rapist? Not necessarily it doesn't. Even children who aren't abused can turn to destructive and violent behaviors, just like the children who are abused will not go on to commit violent crimes. I will proceed to enlighten you with statistics of this topic. This will be a deductive research paper and will cover more questions that may be asked about a child's upbringing vs. his or hers behavior later in life.
My research topic is going to deal with steroids and professional sports. Obviously steroids are bad for the human body, and I will explain why with different statistics and examples. Professional athletes overlook that aspect of steroids to gain a competitive edge and for other various reasons. i.e. money, fame, heroism....I will focus on major league baseball and wrestling because those have been the most scandalous sports concerning steroid use and my opinion will probably be along the lines of how the top management of these entertainment companies have overlooked these issues to have financial gain and also gain marketability. I will also explain what the players’ opinions were of the commissioner’s faulty discipline of the players steroid use and also how some of the admitted and convicted players of steroid use feel about the impression they have made to younger generations. Some of the questions that I will be answering will be the following: why would management overlook the obvious fact that baseball players and wrestlers were using steroids? What were the motivations of the admitted steroid users, and how they feel about top executives not paying more attention earlier? I will include different kinds of graphs depicting the positive correlation between instances of steroid use and numbers of sports viewers. I will use different web sites and a couple of baseball players autobiographies concerning steroids as my resources. I will also interview a friend who has played college baseball for the last 4 years about his opinions concerning steroid use and what he has encountered concerning steroids through his years of playing baseball. The deductive style of writing will be used for this research topic.
Prospectus My paper will cover the effects of sexual exposure to youth and how mass media plays an integral role in providing access to it. I will cover the progression of ‘exposure’ to America’s youth over the last couple of decades – from the early full body swimsuits and high collar shirts to the skimpy dresses and sexually saturated television shows that are on prime time television. Moreover, are the secondary and tertiary effects that this exposure brings to our youth. With all the stress and anxiety brought forward with this indulgence in forbidden knowledge it has been reported that a majority is caused by the repercussions that our children feel in what would otherwise be a nurtured desire to learn more about what they don’t understand; if it was any topic other than sexuality then society would embrace the adolescent desire to learn and grow. The questions continue to parade into light when it is discussed how American society takes the view on these items as compared to our conservative countries in Asia, and our much more flamboyant neighbors in Europe. A survey or two would be in order, a good resource that I have – as a result of being an enlisted member of the military – is my exposure to non-citizens that I work with from all walks of life and all corners of the world. It would be interesting to see how their view coincides with the same question proposed to natural citizens. There are also several interviews, papers, and articles written on various related topics by very reputable educational, organizational, and government resources. I’m probably going to use a Rogerian (common ground) argument to present my paper. This method lends itself to having the reader ‘decide’ on his or her own about the topic without the need to defend or support and particular point of view and thereby gain a better understanding of the concept.
This research paper will explain some of the religions that we have in our world. With not too much detail, I will talk about them explaining the god, thoughts, and laws or rules they live by. I think its interesting knowing at least something about them because it could help everybody to understand why some people do some things and why others try to impose their religion. We have examples in the past in which one religion imposed its believes in some places, such us the Catholic religion when in 1492 Columbus discovered America. Also, it is interesting to talk about the religions which are famous not for its gods, but for its “impact” in the society, such as Buddhism. Buddhism is the only religion in the world that it does not have gods. This religion talks about our path, our way to find the “internal peace”, and how one person, Siddhartha Gautama (referred to as “the Buddha”), was the only one who got the internal peace, which means that he made a choice about his path and he got what he wanted. The way I will talk about each religion its presenting its origin, who was the person who created it and why, and how it is accepted in this world.
After present all the religion, I want to compare a couple of them. I am really interested to compare Christianity with Judaism, and Islamism with Buddhism. The reason of these comparisons it is because I want to show how the people could confuse them. Those confusions are just because we do not want to know about those religions more, and we think we know about them but the true is we do not anything. These comparisons are going to be focused mainly if the rules and the holy books. I could give the example of Christianity and Judaism with their history, so closed and so different at the same time.
Also, I would like to talk about the misunderstanding of the religion in the society and in the history. There could be many reasons of why people want to protect their religion, or why they want their religion becomes very reliable. One it could be because they think that religion is the closest one to the true. Another reason could be because they want to let the people know about they thoughts and they try to remark it with commercials, books or through the people. Finally, I want to explain that in all religions there is always a small groups that disagree all about their own religion but they say they are in that religion. One example could be Protestantism in Christian religion, born after the Reformation in 1529.
This research paper will analyze the impact of a museum’s choice to go into the tombs of the ancient Egyptians and excavate them, to “preserve history.” I will compare how this is no different than people robbing graves here in the twentieth century. I will also explore their everyday rituals, and beliefs of the underworld. I intend on consulting a variety of web resources to conduct my research. No matter the reason for unearthing a grave, I believe it is wrong. There is no difference between grave robbers of today, and the ones representing the museums in Egypt. I plan on visiting various sites related to archaeology and grave robber’s, both grave robbers of today, and past. The art of mummification is present in many cultures, although it is usually associated with ancient Egypt. In this paper, however, I will explain why I am against the museums choice to unearth what has been resting for so long. I plan on using the deductive argument style in preparing my research article. I will view a broad spectrum of legal, social, and news sources to conduct my research. Ancient civilizations believed in life after death, in no other civilization have such elaborate preparations for the afterlife been made in the preservation of the dead, yet they are the ones that are being violated.
My paper will talk about Michael Vick and his conviction for dog fighting. I will explain the charges that Vick pleaded guilty to. I will also compare and earlier case in the 90’s with former running back Todd Mcnair, and the charges and fines that he faced in his case.
I have chosen to address the issues that everyone thinks pit bulls are these terrible animals. I will pretty much ask what has a pit bull ever done to you or someone you know? What would be the reasoning behind your opinion? Was it some thing you saw or read in the news? I will research current events as well as actual facts about this breed of dog.
